Tithing

Reflecting Our Trust in God's Provision

Tithing is a cherished biblical practice where we humbly give the first tenth (10%) of our income or produce to God as an act of worship, gratitude, and trust.

Throughout Scripture, this act holds deep spiritual meaning and practical importance. When we give to God, He graciously takes, multiplies, and generously shares His blessings through us to care for the poor, orphans, widows, and strangers among us.

Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.

Malachi 3:10 ESV

Jesus

Reflecting Our Trust in God's Provision

Jesus affirmed the importance of tithing (Matthew 23:23), but the New Testament teaches us that giving should come from a joyful, loving heart rather than obligation. As 2 Corinthians 9:7 encourages us, “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

You

Our giving is a heartfelt acknowledgment that everything belongs to God.

As Psalms 24:1 declares, “The LORD owns the earth and all it contains, the world and all who live in it.”

Giving becomes an act of trust, showing our confidence that God will meet our needs. It is an expression of gratitude for His abundant blessings and a way to participate in advancing God’s Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:9–15).

Giving also helps us counteract the pull of materialism and nurture a generous spirit.
