Updates from the elders regarding the search for our next Senior Minister.
Discernment Team
February 11, 2025
As part of our announced collaboration with Interim Ministry Partners, a division of Hope Network, in identifying our next Senior Minister, we are introducing our Discernment Team members. Their commission is to prayerfully lead and carry out the search for the next Senior Minister of the Hendersonville Church of Christ. The team meets regularly and works closely with Interim Ministry Partners, aiming to recommend a candidate to the elders.
We are thankful to Garrett Blackburn, Emily Castle, Jeff Castle, Mark Ciampa, Leanne Hayes, Robin King, Mark Massey, Rachel Peden, Barry Potts, Mike Ryan, Monica Sartain, David Villacorta, Kevin Walker, Beth Williams, and Georgia White, for volunteering their time and energy to this process.
Garrett became part of our Hendersonville church family in the Summer of 2021. He and his wife, Rachel, have been married for 12 years and have three children: Paisley (10), Carson (7), and Lillie (4). Garrett has worked in the medical device field for seven years as a clinical nurse specialist with Becton Dickinson. He co-teaches the young adults’ class on Sunday mornings.
Emily joined our church family in 2012 with her husband, Steve, and their children, Caleb (22) and Brooke (19). She has been an educator for 17 years and currently teaches 5th Grade ELA at Liberty Creek Elementary School.
Jeff and his wife, Jill, have been part of the Hendersonville Church of Christ family since 2007. They have two children, Emory (15) and Hudson (10). Jeff works as a CPA and is the Director of Internal Audit at DCI Inc. Within the church, he serves as a deacon, participates on the Mission Committee and the Family Discipleship Ministry Team, and teaches in Student & Kids’ Ministry classes.
Mark and Susan Ciampa became part of the Hendersonville family in 2019. They have two grown sons and seven grandchildren, ages 7 to 17. Susan has retired from her position as a Music Specialist in the Sumner County School System. Mark teaches graduate and undergraduate analytics and artificial intelligence courses at Western Kentucky University and is also an author.
Leanne grew up in our congregation and rejoined after her family moved to Hendersonville in 2018. She and her husband, Jeremy, have two sons: Jett (13) and Beau (11). She is the Director of the Family Counseling Center.
Robin has been a member of our church since 2016. Robin and Jaime have been married for 25 years, and their children are Noelle (22) and Nate (19). Robin has worked in the clinical research industry for 17 years and is currently a Senior Director, Oncology Lead at Thermo Fisher Scientific.
Chairman
Mark and his wife, Rosalind, joined our family in 2018 from west Tennessee, where he had served the church as an elder for 23 years. His 44-year career in education included teaching, coaching, and serving as a high school principal and assistant director of schools. Their sons, Seth and John, and their families also live in Hendersonville.
Rachel became part of our church family in 1987 when she and her family moved here from Madison. She met Anthony at Hendersonville in 2003 and was married in the spring of 2004. They have three children, Tyler (16), Leah (14), and Laney (10). Rachel has worked in real estate since graduating from UT Knoxville in 2002.
Barry has been a part of our church family since 2007. Also attending our church is his daughter, Julia Ellmore (Adam, Owen, Oliver), and son, William Potts (Lacy, Walker, Will). He spent 38 years in education before retiring from his administrative position at Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.
Mike and his wife Stephanie have been members since 1982. They have been married for 53 years and have one adult daughter and two grandsons. Mike served in the Air Force and flew as an airline pilot for 30 years. After retiring in 2011, Mike was a financial advisor for over 10 years. Mike served as an elder at Hendersonville for 8 years from 2015 to 2023 and teaches a weekly, biblically based class at the Sumner County Jail.
Monica and her husband, Jeremy, began attending Hendersonville upon moving to Tennessee in 2005 and joined the church in 2006. They have two children, Joshua (19) and Samantha (18). Monica is a licensed professional engineer with over 25 years of experience. She’s spent the last five years teaching Civil/Environmental Engineering at Lipscomb University as an Assistant Professor.
David began attending Hendersonville as a college senior in 2017 and married Haley the following year. Now married, they became members of our church family in 2018. They have one child, Declan (1). David has worked in public accounting as a CPA for 9 years. He is currently a Tax Manager at Ernst & Young LLP, an international public accounting firm.
Kevin joined our church family in 2011 with his wife, Jamie. They have two children, Hallie (14) and Will (11). He serves as a deacon on our Missions Committee. He is currently co-teaching a Class for Adults on Sunday mornings and a Class for Kids on Wednesday nights. Kevin works in Accounting and Finance and is currently the Vice President of Investor Relations at Dollar General in Goodlettsville.
Beth became part of the Hendersonville church family in 1982 when she married her husband, Randy. She has one daughter, Rachel, and 8-year-old twin grandchildren, Anderson and Caroline. She is a graduate of Freed-Hardeman University. She has retired from full-time work with the State of Tennessee but is working part-time for the State while also working with the Day School.
Georgia has grown up at Hendersonville. She is an active member of the Student Ministry and serves on its leadership team. A junior at Merryl Hyde Magnet School, she is on the dance team and serves on the student council.
